Whilst our volunteer editors will do their best to ensure our events listings are as up to date and accurate as possible; with the fast pace of how things are changing, it is inevitable that some will slip through the net. If you are planning on travelling for larger events, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly to avoid disappointment. We are putting in place new measures to give event organisers a friendly reminder to see if they wish to remove cancelled events, so we're sorry if it looks a bit bare in here :(

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for free, professional advice.

Headgate Theatre Studio Sessions - 5th August 1986, 12th May 2024, 20:00 to 22:00 at Headgate Theatre Colchester, Chapel Street North, Colchester (12.8 miles)
The second in our occasional season of Studio sessions is '5th August 1986" a development performance of a new theatre piece by Ryan Curtis and his company.

The 1980’s was a decade of excess, colour and of course great music. The 5th of August 1986 was particularly important for two young people, as this was the day they met, fell in love and started their life together. A life that brought them two children, many challenges and now, in 2024 on the brink of divorce. Seemingly, the only thing that may save their marriage is the top ten chart from the day they met. So please, come join us on a journey to explore the music of that week as they explain what the songs that they loved back then really meant. Hint, its not what you may think!

The doors open at 19.30, when the lucky audience are treated to thirty minutes of fab 80’s hits. Then at 20.00, the story begins. Will their relationship be saved? Does Franky finally Relax, did we all Choose Life, and can Paul Hardcastle work out "what was going on"? Come join us and find out!

Drinks available at the bar. 80’s fancy dress optional and encouraged.

Tickets £8 plus booking fee.

Fur Coat and No Knickers, 5th June 2024 to 8th June 2024, 19:45 to 22:45 at Headgate Theatre Colchester, Chapel Street North, Colchester (12.8 miles)
The Rejects return to The Headgate Theatre after their recent successes with ‘Abigail’s Party’, ‘Boeing Boeing’, ‘Little Voice’, and ‘Bouncers’. This sidesplitting play is unashamedly politically incorrect. It transports us to riotous antics at the wedding of Deirdre and Mark. The fun begins on the stag night when an inebriated Mark is chained to a lamppost with a blow-up rubber doll. The wedding itself is hysterical too, with half the guests, including the priest, suffering blinding hangovers. If you delight in comic chaos and a night of high-spirited farce this is the play for you.

Contains adult themes and language.

Saturday matinee at 3pm

Tickets £15,£13.50 plus booking fee.
